Genetics & Fitness, Cannabis Brain, Postpartum Drug, RSV Vaccine, Myocarditis, Tyson Closings, and Much More

Issue 148

Good afternoon Nikkola Newsletterers!

Over the past several years, there’s been an explosion in courses to help people learn how to do everything from build a chicken coop to do daytrading.

There’s a really good chance that you have skills and experience others are looking for as well. The hangup for so many people is knowing where to start to build an online system to deliver those skills and knowledge.

At the same time, people have begun to understand the importance of diversifying their income sources.

Vanessa and I recently happened upon a digital course that solved both issues: the need to quickly and easily learn how to succeed online and to earn some extra income quickly.

It’s not MLM or affiliate marketing, and you don’t need any experience to get started. And for those who have a lot of experience online, I can just about guarantee you’d learn something, too.

If this sounds like just what you’ve been looking for, check out the information on this page right now.

It’s easy to put stuff like this off until there’s “a better time,” but time slips away quickly. We all need to be like one of our students who messaged us this morning and take immediate action.

🩺 Health

There seems to be more of a push favoring cannabis sales than against it. Although it might relieve anxiety or dull pain, it still comes with some serious potential side effects. For example, a new study shows that cannabis use during pregnancy could cause lifelong brain dysfunction in offspring.

The FDA approved the first oral drug for postpartum depression. Most news sources seem to hail this as a breakthrough, but few seem to be asking about potential long-term side effects, which include drowsiness, dizziness, diarrhea, fatigue, colds and urinary tract infections. One alternative seems to be essential oils. As the authors of a study published last week explained:

The available evidences suggest aromatherapy may be effective in reducing post-partum depression. The number of scientific evidences currently available are very limited and more studies with robust study designs are required to strongly recommend aromatherapy in the management of post-partum depressions. However, being a safer intervention with no adverse effects being reported in previous studies, aromatherapy could definitely be added as an effective complementary therapy in the management of post-partum depression along with conventional medicine.

The FDA also approved an RSV mRNA vaccine for babies and toddlers. While RSV can be serious for some infants, the vast majority recover with only mild illness. The overall hospitalization rate for RSV is around 2% OF INFECTED infants (not total infants), and mortality is very low. Once again, there’s no long-term safety data, and the protection only lasts 5-6 months. I’m not suggesting parents decline it, but they definitely need to consider the pros and cons.

Myocarditis Caused by COVID-19 Vaccine Spike Protein Is Often Not Detected by Typical Cardiac Tests. That’s the headline from The Epoch Times. The story is even more alarming.

🥩 Nutrition

Tyson Foods is shutting down four poultry plants amidst declining company sales. Beef sales were flat while pork and chicken declined this past year, leading to the decision to close the plants. While you might not like conventionally-raised meat, it’s still the main source of high-quality protein for Americans. It’s unlikely people are eating less calories or food; they’re just replacing protein-rich foods with more carbs or carbs and fat, which leads to plenty of problems for Americans’ brains and bodies.

A new University of Minnesota study suggests artificial sweeteners like aspartame and saccharin could make you artificially fatter over time. As the researchers put it, "This was found even after accounting for other factors, including how much a person eats or the quality of one's diet," so diet soda drinkers beware - your zero-calorie vice may still expand your waistline vice. With findings like these, artificial sweetener consumers may soon be in artificially short supply.

Blackcurrant extract amplifies heart-health & metabolic benefits of exercise: A high-potency New Zealand blackcurrant extract may amplify the heart-health benefits of exercise by boosting the blood pressure-lowering effects that occur in the recovery phase, says a new study from the UK.

Analyzing 40 studies, researchers found protein supplements can help maintain strength and lower a muscle damage marker called creatine kinase, but don't reduce muscle soreness. So downing a protein shake after lifting weights may help you avoid as much strength loss, but it won't save you from muscle soreness the next day!

Still haven’t started using essential oils? Stop missing out.
